All NMEDA mobility equipment dealers are required to participate in the Quality Assurance Program as part of their membership, ensuring our network is always working to uphold the highest standards in mobility equipment installations. As such, each QAP accredited dealer must adhere to a series of rules and guidelines written to assure compliance to applicable motor vehicle safety standards to protect the safety and reliability of each mobility vehicle conversion.
Additionally, NMEDA dealers are required to have the proper level of insurance, use only technicians certified for the equipment they install, use calibrated tools, and are audited at a minimum annually by an independent third party firm, all of which further assure the quality, safety, and electro-mechanical integrity of the product delivered to the consumer.
Compliance to Federal Safety Standards
In 2009, NMEDA established the Compliance Review Program (CRP) to verify that manufacturer’s vehicles and/or components meet Federal/Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (F/CMVSS). When a dealer uses vehicles and/or components that have passed the rigid Compliance Review Program process, they are assuring themselves and their customers the product being installed or delivered has been verified to comply with applicable safety standards.
The goal of the CRP is to provide customers with adaptive transportation options that will always keep drivers and passengers with disabilities safe while on the road.
